Partner LLB (1989) Ray began his legal career in South Africa. He earned his law degree from the University of Natal, South Africa. He practiced as a Prosecutor for 6 years and was admitted as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa. Ray worked as a legal adviser for 3 years for the Old Mutual, South Africa's largest insurance company, and then for 2 years for Deloitte & Touche before he found Birdsell Grant LLP Gardner on the internet. While he was still living in Johannesburg, South Africa he had a video conference interview with Michael Birdsell, Alastair Grant and Charlie Gardner, and was very pleased to be offered a job with Birdsell Grant Gardner. In July 2001 he and his young family travelled 15,655 km across the world to Stony Plain, Alberta. Ray became a partner of Birdsell Grant LLP in 2009. He practices primarily in the areas of corporate law, commercial and residential real estate, as well as wills and estates. Ray also carries on a busy general litigation practice, with a focus on civil litigation, personal injury and estates. Ray's clients include individuals, small and larger businesses and societies and associations. Ray has represented clients in the Provincial Court, the Court of Queen's Bench and various administrative, arbitration and other dispute resolution forums.
