Associate B. Comm (2002), LLB (2007) Michael Thomas was raised in Drayton Valley and began his postsecondary education at the University of Alberta. In 2002, Michael earned his Bachelor of Commerce, and also earned an Operational Research Diploma from the Canadian Operational Research Society. Michael completed his legal studies in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2007, he earned a Bachelor of Laws with a Business Law Certification from Dalhousie University. Michael also completed an internship with a law firm in Munich, Germany in 2007. In June 2008, Michael began his legal career with Birdsell Grant LLP as an articling student, and was called to the Alberta Bar on September 1, 2009. Michael is currently an Associate at Birdsell Grant LLP. Michael carries on a general practice, including residential and commercial real estate, wills, estates, and general civil litigation. Michael also practices in the area of corporate and commercial law, including commercial tenancies, commercial transactions (purchase and sale of businesses), incorporations, and corporate management. Michael is experienced in the areas of construction law, employment law, and contract disputes. Michael enjoys living in Stony Plain with his wife, and being involved in the community. While living in Nova Scotia, Michael volunteered with the Bide-Awhile Animal Shelter. He is currently a Board Member with the Stony Plain & District Chamber of Commerce. Having grown up in nearby Drayton Valley, Michael appreciates being close to his family and friends in surrounding communities. In his spare time, Michael is an avid sports fan.
