Ga ra g e | sh o t s When Steve got the car out of Manitoba, he ended up trailering home his 'driver' that he horse traded his 1958 Ford custom 300 for. He found it back in 2004 during the infancy of this 'internet thing.' He makes no bones about it not being a high buck show car. When I asked, "What do you call your build? Traditional, Jalopy...?" I delicately avoid the term 'rat.' It turns out he doesn't care what people call it, so long as they want to talk hot rods. With a fresh coat of '58 Olds Allegheny green, his jalopy became a daily driver through many winters. It is his commuter in the oil patch, and because of all those miles, it's hands down one of the most photographed cars in Alberta. None of these things happened on their own; it's all because of his views on hot rodding. He believes that it should be something open to everyone, and not an elitist sport. If people want to take pictures of his car to further their photography or modeling portfolio, he's okay with that. It's all about driving and enjoying, and I find his take on it all very refreshing. 28
