There was no defined vehicle at that point, just a conversa on. Rick and his team were le to find a project
vehicle that matched Mort's budget and goals. As bizarre as it sounds, they spo ed the perfect vehicle
less than three blocks from their shop. Driving home, the van's body was spo ed from the freeway. From
a distance, it was perfect. They tracked down the place the van was parked and went over to see if they
could buy it from the owner. The fellow selling it said they were just a li le too late. It had been bought
hours before by another custom shop. Rick said he just could not believe it. "I mean — come on. Here's the
perfect car," he says, "and we missed it by like a couple of hours." But Rick was tenacious. He tracked down
the new owners and explained his predicament. "That shop was great, they sold it to us for the same price
they had paid and we were away to the races again." The van was resold to 360 and they went to pick it up
from the original loca on. It wasn't drivable. They put it on a flatdeck and hauled it back to their shop.
