that just needed to be assembled. Malcolm was very adamant on certain features that had to be in the final design such as the gull wing doors, the acrylic panels, the safety bumpers that retract. "He wanted a sports car with safety features, and o en he was asking first me car builders to pull off something that had not been done before. He was asking fishermen to build a futuris c sports car." The car's engineers had to figure out how to li 98 pound gull wing doors and the acrylic was a nightmare. "In fact, the first prototype melted on the Arizona pavement," laughs Chris. Other issues arose during the manufacturing process. For example, the car needed to be built in the metric system but the designs were all done in inches. "It all made for a good movie script," says Chris. 5 9
