A WAY OF LIFE Strategic Advantages Reputation Awareness and familiarity with the ACSA name and mandate are high among employers, industry and government partners. The Certificate of Recognition (COR), Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR), Health & Safety Administrator (HSA) and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certifications are well regarded among these stakeholders. The broad support from Regional Safety Committees and the ACSA Board, continued funding, and the continued interest in course enrolment all confirm a strong reputation for the ACSA. Training Capability The ACSA operates three formal training centers, in Edmonton, Calgary and Fort McMurray, with over 60 trainers on its roster training throughout Alberta. More than 30 courses are available across the province, year-round, both in a classroom setting and online. Up to 60,000 participants will complete an ACSA safety course in 2015, as member companies continue to work with the ACSA in further improving their safe work environments. The ACSA has built a reputation for leading safety training in Alberta and within Canada. Participation has followed trends within the construction sector overall, but also reflects on the commitment of construction companies to rely on the ACSA for their safety training. For information and trends on the ACSA training programs, refer to pages 14 and 15. Stable sources of funding The ACSA revenue is primarily driven from four sources: education programs, course and material fees, associate memberships and a WCB industry levy. As course enrolment and memberships may fluctuate based on investment within the construction sector, the annual levy provides financial stability for the organization. The ACSA reduced the WCB levy from 1.7% to 1.5% in 2014, as a result of growth across all areas of the organization.
