Daryl wanted a car different than what the guy down the road has, but this comes with its own problems.
"Parts are so hard to find for these. I found someone who was advertising parts and I went out to see him, as
I was looking for front fenders. But it turned out, he only sold complete cars, not parts. I didn't need another
complete car." However, this gentleman became a great resource for Daryl and helped him track down that
hood ornament. He put Daryl in touch with a guy who might have one. "He told me that whatever you do,
don't tell this guy that you are planning on doing a custom. It has to be an original restoration or you won't get
the part." Daryl met the guy and kept his plans to himself.
During this build, Daryl had a lot of help from his son and his neighbour. "I could never had built this car with-
out their help." Daryl's neighbour did all of the electrical and mechanical work for him. The build took nine
years to complete. Everything did not go smoothly, as you might guess by the length of the build. After working
with four builders Daryl got what he was looking for. "It turned out amazing."Daryl just got the car on the road
and only has about 300 miles on it. He says it drives well but the four link suspension drives hard. "You never
realize how rough these roads are until you drive a car with a four link with coil overs." Outside of that, Daryl
says it handles great.
