Our na onal partner Pulse Canada has been engaged on a weekly, if not daily, basis trying to ensure that India reverses the decision of a 50% tariff on yellow peas. Pulse Canada's Market Access team has been working over me, organizing and contribu ng to ministerial trips to India to ensure that our yellow pea producers once again have access to the Indian marketplace. As India is the largest importer of Canadian yellow peas (approximately 40% of all Canadian produc on), this recent tariff and the resul ng impact on yellow pea prices is a prime example of why Canada needs to diversify our export markets. NAFTA, CETA, TPP11 and a bilateral agreement with China would serve our pulse export industry well.
