Introduction What is a CMS website? A Content Management System, or CMS for short, is an application or collection of tools designed to allow the creation, modification, organization and removal of information from a website. A CMS requires contributors and editors to have limited knowledge of HTML in order to develop online content. What are the benefits of a Content Management System? Using tools similar to those available in popular word processing programs, such as Microsoft Office Word, those with no web development experience can quickly and effectively update and format information on the website. Content changes can be made easily and take effect immediately. The main benefits of your CMS website are that it is: Versatile It is ideal for updating content as it is relatively flexible in its architecture. • User-Friendly It is designed to make it easy for all users to manage all aspects of their projects. Site wizards, help icons, and a well-researched user interface allow universal ease-of-operation. • Feature-Rich It has a set of built-in tools that provide powerful pieces of functionality. Content, security, and membership options are easily managed and customized through these tools. • 2 • Supported It is supported by a team of developers and web designers who specialize in CMS, so support is always close at hand. Your New Website Your website has been created within a dynamic customized web environment that gives you the ability to manage your website's content. Each page of the website contains a variety of modules, each with their own particular settings. This manual gives an overview of the most common modules and how to work with them. While each module is different, certain general rules and methods apply to all of them.
