Getting Started With CMS Browsing a CMS Site For those browsing your CMS website, there is no real difference in comparison to a normal website. The advantage to the user is that you can provide up to date, relevant and fresh content with relatively little effort. Updating Content on a CMS Site In a CMS website content is updated directly from your computer through an internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. Due to the nature of the software that controls the CMS, we recommend using Internet Explorer. When you need to update content, you log in to the site with a username and password, make your changes, and save. The content is immediately displayed on the website. What is a module? A module is a section on a page that holds content, whether that is text, images, video, etc. Content that is within a module can easily be edited. A page can have multiple modules. Each module can have settings independent of other modules on the page, including security settings. Users are not able to add, remove or change the settings of modules. Should this be required you can contact Hök Nik and we can make those changes for you. About CMS Security Security on your website can is very important because any unwanted or unintended changes will take effect immediately and be viewable live. For this reason, access to edit the pages is usually restricted to a limited number of Registered Users. That way, only trusted members of your company or organization will be able to edit content. It is important to note that different users can be assigned different levels of access. For example, some Registered Users will have access to edit pages, while other users may only be able to view certain pages that are not viewable by the general public. In order to configure this functionality you need to consult with Hök Nik who will in turn add users and make the necessary changes to the security settings on your website. Essentially there are three levels of security/ permissions on your site: 1. Site Administration This is reserved for the Hök Nik Web Design Team. Site Administrators have complete access and editing privileges for all pages and modules on the website. 2. Web Editor This is reserved for members of your company or organization who are making changes to the site content. 3. General Public Anyone viewing the website. The General Public will be able to view all of the pages on the website, other than those which are restricted to Registered Users and Contributors/Guests. 3
