Don said he would not build any more shiny cars. However one of Don's friends came across a 3100 in the New Mexico desert and showed it to him. That caught his a en on. As Don says he had become known as 'The Mustang Guy' and "this was something totally different and totally out of my realm." With that Don was back to building, but not something shiny. To tell this story properly it might be best to give some history. The 3100 was a light-duty truck developed by the Chevrolet division of General Motors. These trucks first hit the market back in 1948 and fell into the category of "half-tons." A er 1959, however, the half-ton 3100 was renamed C10 or K10, the end of this range of trucks.
