the ePHSM course. All program examples and templates in Word and Excel formats are available on the ACSA website and can be downloaded at no cost; videos can be viewed on the ACSASafety YouTube channel. Learning Services staff are now looking at its processes to better serve both instructors and students and to ensure other resources on the website are more accessible to all of its users. Working with partners such as Women Building Futures (WBF), Job Safety Skills, and Careers the Next Generation, the ACSA is supporting these groups in numerous ways as they move into needed roles within the construction workforce. DIVERSITY ::::::::::::::::::: Strategic Goal Three: To build a broader learning program to appeal to a more diverse work force 1. Introduce a broader learning program, with more learning options, to include a mix of classroom only, classroom and online, job site and online, and online only. 2. Upgrade and increase online courses. 3. Enhance training opportunities: Consider more targeted courses – smaller companies and different audiences (supervisor, safety officer, employee). 4. Review best practices from other provinces, in consideration of whether to incorporate, to ensure leadership in safety education. INITIATIVES: • Leverage current delivery models and introduce blended learning where appropriate. • Introduce competency-based learning targeted to specific roles within industry. • Introduce a small business program. • Introduce a competency-based prior learning assessment process to recognize individual learning as it relates to our course curriculum. Courses and services Our focus is participant-centered learning, and with that we want to ensure that the quality of our instructors, materials and information are second to none. A comprehensive review of course content is a continual process to ensure our programs are current and relevant. More than seven courses were updated last year. For example, the Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) course was revised to better reflect in-class learning and promote a real-world application – the quiz was changed to a "closed- book" exam to ensure participants can demonstrate their understanding and application of concepts; revisions to the Managing Worksite Investigations course have been piloted in two classes; and work has begun on changes to the Principles of Health and Safety Management (PHSM) course. Enhancements are being made to programs designed for small business with implementation planned for 2015. 2014 STATUS REPORT & 2015 BUSINESS PLAN
