The ACSA is also working with Suncor to create a full-day course focused on investigation skills and additional causation analysis and collaborating with other organizations, such as the Oil Sands Safety Society, Alberta Common Ground Alliance and the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers. A trademark audit is being conducted to ensure diligence on citation and copyright of all ACSA learning materials. ADAPTABILITY :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Strategic Goal Four: To upgrade training content and certification processes to meet changing safety standards 1. Collaborate with key partners to review NCSO certification standards. 2. Meet or exceed standards from other training providers. 3. Working with key partners, review COR and SECOR audit and certification. 4. Keep members and partners informed of potential changes in regulation and legislation. INITIATIVES: • Introduce academic advisory services to provide clients with information about ACSA. • Re-evaluate NCSO designation with consideration for program changes to recognize NCSO as a starting point. • Introduce standard work by managing instructor performance, introducing student exit strategies and on-going evaluation of programs. • Review and align standards with other provinces and industries to promote labour mobility. NSCO Certification The National Construction Safety Officer certification is a successful program that has set a baseline standard for safety practitioners in the construction industry. While certification is still recognized as a requirement for safety practitioners, other certifications and designations are also becoming widely recognized. Other safety organizations with designation programs have increased their standards in recent years. ACSA must also raise the bar for current and future NCSO's to demonstrate that we continue to offer the best program to prepare both entry level field safety practitioners and construction supervisors for success in providing healthy and safe places of work.
