' 23 FORD T- BUCKET "It's Deadly." That's the reaction this 1923 Ford T Bucket got when it hit the road this past summer. And as Scott says, "It named itself." When Scott Fleetwood was 23 years old, a friend's Dad bought a 1923 T and had Scott help with the mechanical. Scott says, "He wasn't the kinda of guy to lay on the ground and do the polishing before a show, so I would end up doing that as well. I spent so much time with the car, I just fell in love with it." Flash forward a few years. After getting married, Scott and his wife considered all the things they would like to have and quickly decided a '23 T was close to the top of the list. " That original '23 was classier with the fenders and such and that is just not me, so this is the direction that we went with." Scott and his wife Teressa did 90% of the work in their small garage. "My wife did every break line and there are a lot of them." The car is already on its third transmission and second drive shaft, after only two months on the road. Scott says with a grin, "We have a lot of fun with it on the road." Since Scott knew a '23 was in his future, he had been collect- ing the parts for many years before getting it. He found the car locally and would go on to strip pretty much the entire car. "I collected the parts and we did it our way." There were no renderings done and as Scott says, " The renderings were in my brain the entire time." He sourced parts from all kinds of vehicles, from the motorcycle headlights, to the rear end out of a '67 TBird, the '32 front, and Chevy front brakes. "I basket cased it together, to try to make something cool." It was a quick build, if you don't count all the years collecting parts. Scott started it this past January and had it done for the GarageShots charity Show 'n' Shine in July. He did this while working out of town 8 G A R A G E | S H O T S
