Tile IS IN style Affordable and versatile, with a vast array of colours, textures and patterns, tile makes a simple space exciting, sophisticated and daring. T ile has been around for centuries, but with today's technologies, manufacturers have created new design and application possibilities that were not available even five years ago. You will be amazed at the wide selection of colours, sizes, shapes and new textures that are available in tile. With hundreds of coloured glazes and decorations, your tile options range from simple designs to intricate individual tiles that create stunning mosaics. Tile is extremely durable, very easy to clean, and it resists mold and bacteria. Choosing tile for high traffic areas is also a great way to preserve the clean look in your home. Tile is the most common type of flooring used in bathrooms and kitchens. Another great quality of tile is that it requires minimum maintenance. Tile essentially comes in two categories — ceramic and stone. Ceramic tile is a durable, nonporous, beautiful flooring choice for any home. It is less durable than stone, meaning it can chip and scratch under heavy use. Stone tile flooring has a lot in common with ceramic tile, with the exception that stone is much tougher. Granite, marble, travertine, and sandstone are just a few examples of stone that are commonly made into flooring tile. Keep in mind that different finishes require different amounts of care, so be sure to take that into account before you purchase. Good To Know! Most of today's floor tile is ⅜ inch to ¾ inch thick. Most hardwood flooring is ¾ inch thick. This means that when you put tile next to hardwood flooring, your tile choice will be critical for a flush transition. In addition to a wide selection of tile, we offer a number of custom transitions that help adjust for the difference between tile and wood flooring. 10 | albertahardwood.com
